If you never lived THERE or visited THERE how would you KNOW about how it is THERE?

What there where? In the south where all the statues and monuments and awards and accolades and gory glory was HEAPED UPON treasonous traitors? How could you know unless you have traveled and seen it? How would you know and why would you know?

So why has it taken so Long to rid ourselves of the detritus trash crap remnants of the treasonous traitors? BECAUSE NOW WE ALL KNOW WE ALL SAW WE ALL SEE THE SHAMEFUL. That it took this long to repudiate vilify and try to EXCISE the cancer that almost killed a country will never be adequately explained or understood. Shameful that there are still those who want to go back to then and will do anything they can to get there. Shameful disgusting abhorrent abominable. Embarrassing humiliating devastating.

  • Think about that the next time you critique life in the state of Georgia or disparage the leadership here. Once again it's time for a lesson in American History, though in the case of some here, it's a real waste of time and effort. Secession, is not treason. If it were, Davis and Stephens both would have been tried and convicted. Neither case was made even though both spent time in Federal custody. When Lee surrendered at Appomattox, the chance was obviously there to arrest him and make a case. It wasn't as we know. The authorities in the North had an itch they couldn't scratch because bringing up the issue of secession vs. treason was on shaky ground legally. It all remained that way until an 1867 decision of the US Supreme Court settled the problem. The only measure the Federals could exact short of crime and punishment was to concoct a "loyalty oath" which allowed a return to active citizenship for any who were willing to sign such. There must have been many. Many former Confederates became US Army officers in the post war military establishment. Some were governors, state legislators and YEP, even Congressmen. Some were American Ambassadors and others corporate executives. I have a suggestion. If we taught American History, Civics or Political Science instead of the mindless meanderings of Marx and Engels, we might be a little better off.
