The US Postmaster is considering cutting out all overtime to cut costs which will cause a delay in mail delivery. Y'all good with that?

Bills I used to pay in person I stopped doing mid-march and MAIL all of them. We are in a badly managed pandemic. It is an election year. Delay of mail will not be beneficial to anyone but a bottom line.

Where are you on this issue? Fewer hours worked means less mail processed means less mail delivered. Slows it down.

What would YOUR solution be?

    It's really not that unusual.
    When my dad was a postal carrier, they had audits of how long it took carriers to do a route.
    Of course, the audit was done during a time when there weren't a lot of catalogs or gifts.
    So they were told they had a certain amount of leeway, based on that time ... which was never enough to do the route, when catalogs came out or the holidays (when gifts were delivered).
    So during those times, the mail would be delayed because it couldn't be delivered in the time allowed. This post was edited by Walt O'Reagun at July 21, 2020 1:11 PM MDT

    He actually did get bit by a dog.  It was a dachshund.  Jumped up and tore a chunk of his knee.
    He never had problems with larger breeds, even dobermans and rottweilers.

    Did he have to get a Rabies shot just in case? A dachshund with attitude no doubt! It's always the small teeny tiny ones like the trump who are the problem Napoleon was a teeny tiny and some are teeny tiny even when they are MORBIDLY OBESE. Ya never know where the flow will go.     I'm sure he did.
    All I remember is that I had just gotten a microscope (from Goodwill) and he gave me blood and skin samples to look at.

    Wow Walt! That must have been a heck of a moment for you. Looking through the lens to what was on the slide? I just got shivers and I have NEVER had the oppottunity of doing that in person. I've seen it depicted in movies of course and it's pretty darned exciting! What happened to your microscope? Still have it? Thank you for you reply! :

    Since we got it from Goodwill, it only had one working magnification (out of 4) ... and the light didn't work, so it was difficult to see what was on the slide.  After volunteering at the local hospital's pathology department, I decided I didn't want to go into a biology field after all.  So I got rid of the microscope.

    Oh? How cool is that. I've gotten some nifty things at Goodwill or the Salvation Army over the years. What magnification worked? The highest or least powerful? I think being a pathologist would not be my cuppa tea. You had a brief encounter and decided it was not for you. I wonder where that microscope is today?     Oh, so it’ll be just like it was here last Christmas.  If they want to speed things up and save money, hire people who actually do their job!  Our carrier is always on his phone (hands free).  Not a day goes by that he doesn’t have to back up the street and redeliver the mail because he forgot to deliver it all the first time (when he has packages is even worse!!!).   And they wonder why he never gets done until 8 at night.

    Yes, they should eliminate OT (except in emergencies).  I'm sure some carriers “milk” their shifts just to get the OT.  We had a big problem with that in the grocery business.  Eliminating all OT put a stop to it.
