Nothing could have prevented the fires in California. Lightning sparked fires happen all over the world. The fact that California has been in an ongoing drought and was experiencing an unprecedented heat wave only exasperated the matter. No amount of “leaf raking”, or forest management would have stopped the fires from starting. The amount of fires that were ignited by the lightning had spread fire crews Fire spread thin across the state. We don’t hear much about the fires they got out, just the ones that they’re still trying to get out. There were literally thousands of fires sparked by lightning – in big cities as well as in rural locations - threatening millions of people. The ones that are still burning are devastating, but it could have been a LOT worse.
Of course, California fires don’t affect him (he hates this state). He only sees money. If Mara Largo were set on fire by lightning, he’d be singing a different tune.
