Would it be possible to fly over California and douse the wildfires with water to bring them under control? Has this not been considered?

    They are already doing that...and have been for weeks. It isn't working.

    10,000 gallons of water is nothing to a blaze such as this. A million gallons of water wouldn't even work.

    They use water and fire retardant, but one of the main issues is visibility.  Planes and helicopters can't see where they're going with so much smoke and flame.  Another issue is that the heat is so intense that water could easily dry up before it reaches the ground.  Trees are also in the way as are homes that haven't yet burned down.
