I am afraid no-one can know until various vaccines have been used on enough people, but I would think a rate similar to flu feasible because that is caused by a similar coronavirus.

As well as stopping the infection it also has to last, at least for long enough to protect us while any new virus staring is identified and the vaccine adjusted to suit.

And more importantly not cause side effects that are worse than the virus. I don't know how testing can possibly be fast tracked. Average FDA approval takes anywhere from 4-10 years! This is being done in less than one? How safe is it? Would you join in to the group being tested? I was in an FDA test for a bone-thickening drug to fight osteoporosis . The phase I was in lasted TWO YEARS. It finally was approved I believe some years later. For that reason I have no intention of having the fast track vaccine injected in me. In that case the cure might be worse than the disease. What was tested was called Calcitonen. Thank you for your reply Durdle! :)

Thank you for pointing that out - I must admit I'd not considered the side-effects problem.

I have nothing against vaccination and have just had my annual 'flu jab; but must admit I'd not want to be a guinea-pig in an early Covid-vaccine trial, either.

Wise reply. I wonder if the demented duck will get a vaccine once it's released and if his adoring worshippers will follow suit? That could be a whole other tragedy. We shall see. If anyone really believes the demented duck knows anything about anything I pity the outcome of them futurely. Thank you for your reply Durdle. We got our flu shots a few weeks ago. I have read that it takes a few days to protect you. So we should be protected now! :)
