I expect standard-issue parents feel obliged to "tell" their children not to lie...to them. Did yours ever tell YOU to lie to anyone?

Have you ever told your children to lie to anyone at any time about anything? But never to lie to them?

Isn't that mixed messaging?

Lying is a bad thing to do except when He or She of They tell you to then it's magically okay. You are performing a specific service for the liar YOU service so of course it's the "right" thing to do for you. This makes sense to YOU because you want to please others and be liked and accepted so if lying buys you that why not? What could it hurt? Everyone says so. Right.
