What do you think about Bob Dylan winning the Nobel Prize for Literature 2016?

Bob Dylan, songwriter/singer, has influenced songwriters for over 50 years. Somewhere in my library I have his book with his songs, but not all, since he is still writing. I think this is great!

    Umm...these were written in 1968.
Why is he thought worthy now?
He really did nothing of importance from the mid seventies on. This post was edited by Vetrov at October 15, 2016 12:47 AM MDT

We're still listening to it.  Do you understand contribution, timeless, classic, and tradition.   You can see what the Swedes said.  It was their party.  The prize means less than it used to since they gave it to Obama for absolutely no reason.  The Dylan award is not political though............that's the way it should be.

    Come senators, congressmen

    Please heed the call

    Don't stand in the doorway

    Don't block up the hall

    For he that gets hurt

Will be he who has stalled

    There's a battle outside

    And it is ragin'.

    It'll soon shake your windows

    And rattle your walls

For the times they are a-changin'.

-- THE TIMES THEY ARE A-CHANGIN'

If Obama can be be given the Nobel prize for peace then anything's possible from those jokers over in Sweden.

And let's not forget "Sir" Elton John and "Sir" Rod Stewart. Yet more frivolity from Europe.

I am a huge fan of Bob Dylan.  He may be my favorite artist.  But this award does not fit his talent.  He did not write any literature.  He was a poet and a songwriter and does not deserve the Nobel Prize for Literature. If you want to award his poetry or song prowess, go ahead, just don't give him an award for something he is not.
