I don't honestly know. I think maybe they are looking for someone to take charge and tell them what to do what to think what to say. That way they never have to think independently. That way they belong to a group of others just like them who cannot function alone on their own without a "leader" either.
That's why dictators are beloved by those who admire cruelty. They toe the line and feel just fine and they tell their children to toe the line so they will feel just fine generation after generation after generation. They propagate and promulgate and postulate and irritate and agitate and exacerbate their entire lives. Gives them something to do as a family.
