It seems that parts of him are autonomous and operating independently from the rest of him. That is why he is so often reversing himself and contradicting himself and undermining himself. These parts work 24/7 but not necessarily in unison or coherently. Multiple personalities? Maybe or maybe not. I don't know. What do you think? If he were alright mentally and emotionally he would not do/say what he do/say. Something is clearly off.
