My observation with rare exception. Those who are modest and allow others to sing their praises are usually most AWESOME. Those who brag?

Now of course there are exceptions.

But generally speaking in MY experience modest is superlatively adorable and immodest is disjunctively deplorable. Everyone says so. Well not everyone. Anyone who says "everyone says so" is a LIAR. Something that the disjunctive deplorables engage in 24/7 as does/do their mentor satan master of hyperbole. He whose name shall not be spoken.
