I heard a doctor being interviewed on the news this afternoon say just that. What a terrible burden to have to live with. Everyday people are complaining about how inconvenience this virus has been and the impact it's had on their lives, but think about the medical personnel who have to watch people slowly dying 24/7. How difficult it has to be for them to be the ones holding a dying persons hand because their families cannot do it. I can only imagine how many of these people will need mental care when this is over.
Gee L I never once thought about that. It's a war they are in and an afterwards for them will be grim as it is for our troops who watch friends being blown up. How do you "get over" that? How do you remain intact untouched after you experience that? More casualties of war. The fighters of it. There is no upside here. We haven't seen the worst of it quite yet either. There is nothing we can do about it except continue to mask social distance and shelter in place. Too bad more homo saps didn't take any of it seriously early on. Some still are not bothering to comply. And so we will never see an end to it. Ever. Ghastly thought. Thank you for your thoughtful reply. What next?
I'm sure there will be many cases of medical PTSD when this is all over. It is like being in war - seeing people die and knowing there's nothing you can do about it.
The rising rates of infections, hospitalizations and deaths are daunting and there may come a point where no matter what is done, short of a vaccine or cure, will not make a big difference. If these people who refuse to wear masks can't see what is happening before their eyes and still refuse to cooperate, there's no way to stop the spread. I hate to say it, but the highest number of cases are in red states - states where Trump had his mass campaign stops in a last ditch effort to win the election.
