Saving lives of course. Without life there is nothing.
Now that saving lives would not only be surgically but also providing food and shelter and medical care.
After that? For me it would be the arts. Music, literature, the dance, the fantasies thought up by the creative people among us with which we can escape for awhile to other lands where there is only beauty and peace and comfort and goodness.
Having a bad day? Watch It's a Wonderful Life or Miracle on 34th street or Wizard of Oz or An American in Paris.
Listen to a symphony. Go to a museum. Read a favorite book.
Of course it doesn't change your life. But it brings respite however temporary to you. A change of scenery in your mind. A pause that refreshes.
