We are normally home on Thanksgiving. Always home on Christmas day. But we do travel to visit family just either before or after Christmas.  We will do the same this year unless something drastic were to happen.

Now retired I can plan my journeys, but when working, if I wanted a Bank (public) Holiday weekend away it often entailed driving on the Friday evening and Monday afternoons - the busiest times since some of these holidays are on Mondays. I did not enjoy that, and avoid it now.
