It is off the southeastern coast of Queensland, Australia. It is the largest sand island in the world. It also is the only place where you can find a RAINFOREST growing on sand dunes. It is known as Sandy Island as well. A great resort area of enormous beauty.
That's the good part. Here's the sad part.
Parts of Fraser Island have been burning and on fire for six weeks. Evacuations have been going on of late and it doesn't show any signs of waning. The ecosystem is grievously impacted.
I knew nothing about it until an Aussie friend mentioned it.
I wonder how many other muggers' countries are suffering through devastating things beyond COVID?. We are so obsessed with it understandably so thus we lose sight of the fact other horrible things are also going on. They didn't stop.
SIGH. Alas. What next?
