Shun. Isolate. Mock. Ridicule. Ignore. What is the most effective way to shut someone up/off?

I agree with thee. I wish others agreed to agree with us...thee and me.  Some folks demand attention and will not ever willingly be ignored. No matter what they have to do to get attention. If "acting up" always resulted in the same reaction....being ignored....maybe the actors upping would stop? What are the odds of that? Thank you for your reply! :)
