People seem to be desperate for human contact. What is going on in the grocery stores in my experience is quite surprising. WHAT IS THAT?

Months ago in the grocery stores folks avoided eye contact. Eyes straight ahead. Avoid all others. Remain silent. Get in and get out. Month after month after month.

Of late? People chat you up..complete strangers look you in the eye and say "thank you" or "you're welcome" or "take care" or (and this is what they say most often) STAY SAFE. They smile. They are very courteous and polite. They ACKNOWLEDGE YOU and don't look through you.

I would say that is a definite improvement in my experience. Is yours the same in your neck of the woods?
