Did we celebrate the discovery that one plus one equals two as much as we celebrate the discovery of E equals mc squared?

Do we overlook simplicity far too often and over celebrate complexity? If so why?

(humor)  We don't celebrate 1+1=2 as there is still an open debate to whether it's true or not.  (thousands of kindergarteners say it's untrue each year).  E=MC2, now, that's just pure fact. Aristotle witnessed Moses telling it to Einstein.  Da Vinci even took a painting of the event.. ("say cheese").  Sadly, Michele Angello used it to mop the Cistern Chapel so her husband, Michael, wouldn't get his feet wet when he sang to the Crusaders.

(Seriously) - the complex stands out while lhe simplistic is simply banal.
Do we celebrate the discovery of fire or the invention of the wheel?  Both are vitally important.  Yet both are taken for granted  (yeah, yeah, fire burns, wheels roll, the sun sets, yadda, yadda, yadda...).  The complex, ... well now, that's "different".  Different stands out in our minds.

Do we wish to be taken for being far smarter than we really are so we go out of our way to complexify? I don't know the answer to that. Do you? Thank you for your reply Shuhak! :)
