Democrats run Chicago and have the highest murder rate in the country almost 4000 so far this year what's being done about it?

This answer gives us a 2-for-1 deal: factual inaccuracy PLUS correlation = causation fallacy!

Mahalo for your reply and the two links. I don't understand either of them or how they pertain to my question OS. Apologies.

@RosieG -- Mr. Thumb asserted that there have been 4,000+ homocides this year (2016) in Chicago. This is factually incorrect (see the first link).

Mr. Thumb asserted the high murder rate in the city of Chicago is attributable to the Democratic political leadership in the city government. He offers no empirically rigorous explantion why the relative dominance of the Democratic party should lead to a high murder rate. He might just as well have attributed Chicago's high murder rate to the high number of churches in the city (Chicago has lots of churches. Chicago has lots of murders. Therefore, churches cause murders). That's the point of the second link.

    I hope this helps.

There were  way too many and the highest in the country regardless how precise the figures are or not. The democrats are in charge and have done nothing to correct it. I'm independent and don't favor a particular party but with your thinking you obviously couldn't be fair and add to any solution.

My view of American history is neither major political party has demonstrated any consistent superiority with respect to Executive Branch conduct. For every FDR, the Democrats have had a James Buchanan. For every Lincoln, the GOP has had a Warren Harding or Bush 43.

    Hello Rosie:

I followed JFK into war.  I dunno if he was a good president..  I just know that I LOVED him.

He was my FIRST president excon. The first one I  was old enough to vote for. I adored him. So did the rest of the country by and large. When he died I cried as did most of the country. The day of his funeral I got permission from my boss the day before to bring a small TV to the office so we could watch. Will anyone EVER FORGET John-John's salute or Caroline's sober face?  It crushed the hearts of so many of us. Did some Republicans celebrate? I suppose.  I guess. Then as if that weren't shattering enough Bobby was assassinated. I think he would have been a good president for all the people. Who knows what JFK could have done had he not been taken out so early? We will never know. There are some things one never forgets. We are branded by them. The death of JFK is one. John junior's death and Jackie's early death were like scenes from a  Greek tragedy. There is still Caroline. I hope she lives to be a very old woman and dies of natural causes peacefully. Teddy died of brain cancer. He did a lot of good for the country while he lived and he was respected by pols on both sides of the aisle. I guess the Kennedy Family was our royalty. I think the Obama family has done credit to our country. Thank you for your reply excon and Happy Thursday! :) This post was edited by RosieG at October 20, 2016 4:31 AM MDT

  • Over the years I've seen both good and bad from both parties. My view is that it isn't the party that makes a good/bad president,  it's the person them self.
