Obviously the self-sufficient are not NEEDY. They rely on themselves though of course if offered kindness and assistance they are smart enough and appreciative enough to accept it. But they don't SEEK it or GROVEL for it or BELLYCRAWL for it or LIE for it or commit TREASON for it or filthify themselves and all who come in contact with them.
Different strokes. NEEDY SEEDY GREEDY. Self-sufficient. Is it a choice OR are we born that way?
