Discussion»Questions»Communication» We use words in order to communicate. Do you always assume worst-case meaning or do you read things in context and comprehend the intention?
We're not very articulate. It's even harder when we're typing. Often times, our meaning is misunderstood. But, if somebody doesn't LIKE you, they'll ascribe bad intent to your post. If somebody likes you, they'll give you the benefit of the doubt or ask for clarification..
So, we're not really talking about English here.. We're talking about manners and behavior.

Mebbe so. All I know is that when I don't understand something I ask. I do not assume. I am not ashamed to ask for clarification. Thank you for your reply excon and Happy Tuesday! :)
I think it can be very hard at times to figure out exactly what someone intends with their written word, especially on the Internet. Most of us are not professional writers and words can and do get misconstrued.
When I don't understand I always ask for clarification. I do 't ASSUME if I'm perplexed. I have no problem with that PeaPod. I admit it when I don't get it. I want to make sure I understand what is being said before I respond. Thank you for your reply! :)
