In WW! we had Sergeant Alvin York. Killed at least 25 Germans. Captured 132! Took out a German machine gun nest and gathered 35 machine guns.
In WW2 we had Audie Murphy who was only 20 when the war ended. He killed 240 German soldiers, was wounded 3 times, received 33 awards and medals and after the war he starred in 40 movies. He died before the age of 50 in a plane crash.
I guess every war has its heroes.
A former pol said he didn't like heroes who were captured. I expect he liked York and Murphy.
