How much in life is "happily ever after" and how much isn't? Any idea why?

There is no such thing as "happily ever after", it's just a fantasy.

Happiness is a fickle condition.  It relies on happenings, and happenings are constantly changing.  What once made one happy may not after some time.  After marrying the spouse of their dreams, one begins to notice that he/she isn't as "perfect" as they once thought.  He belches when he eats!  Her once quirky laugh now sounds like someone strangling an ostrich.  On top of that, they get older.  Her once young slender body swelled and now sags.  His washboard abs are now a fat gut.
Even if things stayed exactly as they were when one thought it would be "happily ever after", they would find it boring after awhile (mundane).

So do you know who it was who invented "happily ever after" or first spoke of it? It's a thing people believe in and if it doesn't exist what then? I think we make our own happiness. I think we can choose to focus on the good..the donut. So it has a hole? SO WHAT? Thank you for your thoughtful reply Shuhak. All things considered are you happy? :) This post was edited by RosieG at May 20, 2021 2:46 PM MDT
