Or is Memorial Day the junk drawer that remembers those who died from all causes?
Saturday, May 15 was ARMED FORCES DAY
Veteran's Day is November 11...honoring those who served in the military
The origins are vague and hazy. Allegedly Memorial Day grew out of the aftermath of the Civil War when people decorated the graves of their dead with flowers.
It was original referred to as DECORATION DAY.
In 1971 Congress made it official. MEMORIAL DAY.
Of course we don't mourn the dead only today. We mourn them every day 24/7.
