In the long run, Nature on us.

You remember how at one time people used to talk blithely about "taming Nature" with each new massive engineering project or scientific discovery?

You don't often hear that nowadays.... Instead it's, "Look what what we've done to Nature".

    Only, Nature can bite back.

If we had taken better care of Nature then Nature would have been able to take better care of us? If we hadn't crapped up the air, the earth, the water how much better would our lives be today?

OR even if we didn't initially realize the great harm we were doing if we had STOPPED doing it once we realized that the consequences would be (decades ago at least) would that have stopped or very much slowed down the decline and fall and demise? I remember when Rachel Carson wrote THE SILENT SPRING. I wonder ho was the first to start talking about then shouting about then screaming about what we were doing? Few but the "nature lovers" did anything about it. The Sierra Club. Greenpeace. Other nature conservancy groups. Of course doing things there way would cost money...a lot of money and cut back on the bigness of the bottom line of industry. It's always going to be the money isn't Durdle? Sigh. Thank you for your reply. Where we go from here can only be down. :(
