How do you feel about children? If you don't have children, do you plan to? Why or why not?

  • I've always been good with kids; I do imagine myself with kids some day, though not sure if that's very likely to happen.

I believe you've said you're a high school or middle school teacher, so I imagine you are good with them!

You never know what's in store for you. Families come in many varieties, you know. :)

I have always been good with children, although my step-daughter has a baby on the way, and I am way past my baby days. I'm not sure how I will react to a baby who will be here a lot. This post was edited by Element 99 at July 27, 2021 1:26 PM MDT

I'm sure you'll be fine. Ear plugs can be great friends! :)

You will fall in love with it.....you won't be able to help it.  I've never lived near my grandchildren and don't feel close to them.

I think that may be a woman thing. The child is not of my blood. I know that sounds foreign to you, but that is how I am.

I like well-behaved children.  I never married so I don't have any of my own and at the ripe old age of 75, I'm not planning on having any. :)

Yes, well-behaved are easier to like!

    Thanks for your reply.

I don't like them overall, I mean, I would never be a teacher in public school.  My kids were my life when they were growing up.  I can't imagine my life without them.  But still I don't gravitate toward that person who brings their newborn by the office.  Nope.   Don't try to hand that little fragile bundle to me! I understand. I think many people aren't drawn to them. Seems to me that many younger people are deciding against having them, as compared to past generations.

I used to be that person who wanted to hold the newborns, but now, unless it's my family, I'd rather not. I worry about germs (giving more than getting).
I love kids. I feel most comfortable once they're potty-trained and before they start getting that 'attitude' that comes in the tween years.

I have a child or I had a child and I won't bring another into the world ever again.

Many people feel that way. I understand, yet I know what a wonderful part of life it can be for people. Difficult, but wonderful.

  • I have one "child" ... who is now a grown man.  He has always been one of my favorite people .. someone I really respect.  Kids can enrich your life .. but everyone is not cut out to be a parent.  It's a tough job and often thankless.

If we're lucky, there's much to love about the adult child/parent relationship!

I agree with everything you said. Thanks!

I agree. My daughter still calls herself 'daddy's little girl'. She is 41.
