Can you cite an example of your own use of a cultural term that's become part of our everyday speech to which you have no personal point of

reference? 

Example: I use the term "glitch in the matrix", even though I've never seen or read it.

  • Not sure if this fits ... but I have used "culture shock" to describe our move from suburban Chicago to more rural Central IL.  I think it actually first referred to moving to a different country or culture.

    But our move was quite an adjustment ... despite still being in the same State and country.  :)

    I think that's pretty accurate. I've been lucky to experience a variety of communities within the US and cultural and environmental factors in which you're raised really influence the nature of us in many ways, and it's palpable.

  • Thanks.  I think it's a matter of "bloom where you are planted".  We thoroughly enjoyed our new life after a short time.
