    If you watched on TV, a lot of fans were outside of Wrigley and went insane anyway - not to mention that a lot of Cubs' fans were at Progressive Field for the game.

    Congratulations to the Cubs and I hope their fans enjoy the victory.

    It occurred to me that the Cubs winning in such a drawn-out and dramatic fashion is EXACTLY how long-suffering Cubs fans would want their first championship since 1908 to come about.

    Winning a World Series 4-0 with every game being a 7-2 victory just wouldn't have fit the narrative nearly as well...;-D...

    I have lived in Chicago and near Wrigley Field much of the time.   My relatives, who are big on baseball, are die-hard cub fans.  Always have been, always will be.  Kinda like Da Bears fans.

    Uncle Frank, Cousin Frankie, Cousin Paul, and dead other Uncle Frank.  I have repeatedly asked them why.  Why do they support a team that never wins.  I guess I really do not know baseball because that, I guess, is not the point.  The point is the loyalty that fans are so proud of.  They will STICK with you through thick and thin, I guess no matter what.

    I don't get it.  I guess that is why I never married.

    But, I am happy for them.  This will give them something to cheer about for years because I doubt if it will happen again before Hailey's Comet comes around once more. This post was edited by WM BARR . =ABSOLUTE TRASH at November 3, 2016 12:00 PM MDT

    Loyalty through thick and thin is a big part of being a fan of most teams that only occasionally win, like the Cubs, Mets, Braves, Dodgers, and many others. The Yankees are kind of an exception.     Sure, but look at it this way - anybody can have a bad century!

    But seriously, there's a lot more to it than the city, and the same thing happened to the Red Sox between 1918 and 2004 and the White Sox between 1917 and 2005. And the Indians haven't won since 1948 and counting.
