When a plot gets too tangled to resolve it takes a "deus ex machina"(god out of the machine) like."he woke up from the dream") . Will we?

A dream doesn't require waking up from. Dreams are good things. It is nightmares that require awakening from but nightmare doesn't  rhyme with machine so it has to be a dream.  After all which sounds best to you....machine/dream or machine/nightmare? See what I mean?
