    It is not that they are enemies, it is that usually by the end of their 2nd term the sitting Pres is not a benefit to the incoming candidate.
    Also it is considered traditional for the current Pres to not interfere with political campaigns and issues.


    Reagan had the Iran Contra issue.
    Clinton had the Lewinsky issue.
    Bush W had Iraq.

    Thank you for a very helpful answer m2c. The polls (if you can believe them) show Obama above 50% in popularity which would be good for Hillary since her popularity is virtually nil. Geez I wish I could inject something in her that would give her one. I know. Terrible thing to say isn't it? :(
