Hank is usually just a nickname for Henry. I had a dear friend with that name who was a prominent attorney in a major city. The only country thing about him was that he loved Jimmy Buffett.

I've never known or heard of a Henry being called Hank.

    That’s surprising to me.

There aren't many guys called Henry in my neighbourhood, and those few who are called Henry are known as Henry, not Hank. How can Hank be short for Henry anyway? It's the wrong letters.

It’s a nickname, not a short version of a name.

What about Prince Harry? Is Harry a nickname for Henry in the UK?
