Should a prez be merciful? Is that a good trait in a prez? Is it something you could support or do you prefer an eye for an eye guy ? Why?

"The quality of mercy is not strained. It droppeth as the gentle rain from heaven upon the place beneath. It is twice blessed. It blesseth him that gives and him that takes".  From Shakespeare's The Merchant of Venice. Trump said his favorite quote from the Bible is AN EYE FOR AN EYE.  Do you support that and agree with he? Is that YOUR favorite Bible quote? If not what is and why?

Trump does not understand that language.  He is in a virtual mirror.  All he sees is Trump.  He thinks this makes him a leader.  He thinks mercy is something to dole out if it suits him and makes him look good for some selfish reason.   He doesn't know how to put anything above TRUMP.

We have a total sociopath in that House.  This is a Nation of total imbeciles who do not have a clue what they have just done.  None at all.  They think .... what was Thrifty's word?  Oh yeah.  They think this is really groovy.

  • A prez should be merciful.. simply because it's the reasonable thing to do. Do people *really* want to be lead by someone who is spiteful and lets his own personal insecurities and anger dictate his actions. This could seriously harm America.  Merciful and one who puts his country's interests before his own pettiness is way, way better.

Vis a vis Donald J. Trump there is no mercy there. He is too filled with revenge/retaliation/hate/evil for that. Too bad for us. Too bad for the world. He is a loser. He lost the popular vote to Hillary Clinton just as Al Gore won the  popular vote in 2000 but Bush became prez. A stupid way of electing presidents isn't it? Thank you for your reply! :(

  • Let alone Presidents, all humans should be merciful, especially when the wrong is done inadvertently or without malicious intent.
However, mercy is often taken advantage of, sometimes brutal advantage, to the great harm and detriment to him who shows mercy. In such cases mercy as no place. This post was edited by Benedict Arnold at November 10, 2016 9:24 AM MST
