    It's sad isn't it? I remember when we used to go to ceremonies on Memorial Day and actually observe it as it was intended.

    No.  I've done no shopping that could be considered MD sale shopping.  I have heard not one person mention purchasing anything either.  Where I come from  Memorial Day is a very heartfelt remembrance of the fallen military members.  Then, of course, we do eat barbeque.  It will be served at 4 in the great hall.     It is to you what you make it.  Some may drink, some may clean and plant around tombstones, some may attend gatherings.  It's personal and you can't say a whole country does xxxx.  We are the country.  A country of pure hearts would be heaven on earth.
