In my lifetime, just off the top of my head: JFK, RFK, MLK, Malcom X, Harvey Milk, Melissa Hortman and John Hoffman were killed. Attempts were made on George Wallace, Gerald Ford (twice), Ronald Reagan, Donald Trump. I don't know who I might have left off the list and there were others before my time (Lincoln, for one).
I wish it didn't happen, but I don't have a lot of hope that it will change.
