Not really.
"The Media" is an oligopoly of corporate interests (the figure I see frequently quoted is 6 companies own 80% of "The Media"). Corporate oligopolies do what they always do: subvert every other value in pursuit of profit.
The reality of The Media being a corporate oligarchy is a failure of people (esp. in the United States) to demand it be otherwise. We used to treat the public airwaves as a public interest and require media companies to operate news agencies at a loss as a cost of licensing. Those tenats would need to be heavily modified for the Internet age, but there is no reason, in principle, they couldn't be implemented.
