LOL and that's one of the latest imports from America to the UK.. black friday.. 3 years ago no one had heard of it.. we all just ignored it when Amazon mentioned it.. yea yea hype we thought.. then last year it was MEGA... people going nuts, fighting in shops... This year i didn't physically go shopping as i hate shopping with a passion.. but online I was more daring, I bought a very exciting.... carpet cleaner lol
Well they said over here that you should only buy if you can a) afford it and b) you really need it.. they say most bargains end up in landfill or cause the old product you are upgrading to go to landfill - they said think of the environment .
@Baba -- As a Buy Nothing Day observer, I have pondered whether perishable necessary purchases (e.g. food, fuel for one's car, etc.) "count" as purchases within the spirit of Buy Nothing Day.
Mostly, what I try to do is make sure I don't ***need*** to purchase anything on Buy Nothing Day, but if something comes up (e.g. I'm thirsty and I want to buy a drink), I don't fret about it too much.
I bought a TV after work since the old one got fried a few months ago. I thought that since I was already there and they were on sale it was a good time to get one. It was surprisingly dead at my store this year so that's good, but I work nights so maybe that's why? I wasn't sure if it would fit in my car, but there's a reason I call it "the clown car"
