If someone is running away from you how is it possible for him/her to be an imminent threat? All you see is a back running FROM you. So?

    OK. So here goes:

    It would be very difficult. running forwards while looking over your shoulder to aim, means you are likely to run into a tree, or what ever other dangers there are that we routinely avoid.

    Also, while running we bounce up and down, worse than when sitting on a horse.
