I have seen them in concert about 4 times, first time in '95 when they played at the club back in I used to go to every night. One of the times was a free concert on top of Grouse Mountain for Canada Day '99. :-D
Apparently, there are people who are either too immature to understand or just can't appreciate real music, with raw and emotional lyrics. Basically, it's just a case of having ****** taste. Nickleback is one of my all-time favorite groups.

Because their sound is incredibly generic and un-inventive (almost entirely made up of power chords), Chad Kroeger's voice is grating and unpleasant, and their lyrics are nothing beyond what every other mainstream band writes about. Their music is the McDonalds of rock. Its pleasures are shallow and ultimately unfulfilling.

They got their sound, but so does a lot of bands. If people really care to get to know a band it means they got to listen to more than the few that's been played over and over again on the radios. Hmm. Here's one for you Ma'am. :-)
