Long, long ago, in a land far, far away, lived an evil magician whose spells and curses were widely feared. If he put together just the right proportion of newts' eyes and frogs' toes and accompanied them with the dreaded command, Abracadabra! he could accomplish whatever his wicked heart desired.
But there was a catch, a fatal flaw, just like Superman's kryptonite. His ingredients had to be kept in earthenware containers. If any kind of metal storage was used they were rendered useless.
One day when he arrived back at his cave, his mind filled with malice, he planned to spend the evening wreaking havoc on his neighbours. It was not to be. When he opened his magic cupboard he was mortified to find all his ingredients wrapped in silver paper.
He rent his robe and beat his breast, and threw back his head, and cried, "Curses, foiled again!"
