Wednesday there will be FIVE hearings for Trumpet appointees AND the first Trump news conference (unless Trump backs out at the last minute) since July 2016. Jammed together on purpose so that people will be overwhelmed and not have time to give the proper scrutiny to everything. The hope will be that the hearings will go quickly since there is no time allowed for in-depth questioning. Typical Trump. Fears questions. Also I wonder whom he will allow to attend the press conference? Is everyone invited or will he restrict the audience to only friendly members of the media and lie about why it isn't an open news conference to everyone? I dunno what he'll do. Maybe cancel the conference at the last minute because he is really petrified of the press? Of course he could limit it to just him and Sean Hannity. He can count on that guy 24/7.
The weird thing is that the hearings can't take place LEGALLY until/unless the Ethics Committee has received all required paperwork and vetted the folks. Most of them have ignored the rules and have provided NOTHING. McConnell insisted in 2008 that no confirmation hearings would take place unless ALL paperwork were done in advance and all Ethic Committee vetting were completed. The new-and-improved McConnell says asking for that is just Democrats' sour grapes because none of it is essential to the confirmations hearings and will be done eventually. You can always count on McConnell to do the right thing. He is dependable as a brick wall and about as intelligent. Stolid. Rigid. Solid. Unmovable. Rules don't matter according to him. Isn't that swell?
