    "A lion in sheep's clothing" means someone who seems safe but is really very dangerous.

    I have always heard the expression as "a wolf in sheep's clothing," but the meaning is the same. -Joe Devney.

    And we thought this could never happen because the American people were smarter then that.

    I had more faith in people in this country and was sadly disappointed.  I think racism and a need to blame liberals for all the ills of the country was much more prevalent than I thought.  It didn't help that the Democrats offered a candidate that was so hated by the other side.
