I have a Husky that I named Dakota because I found him in North Dakota. Very original, I know, lol! Anyway, while he's running around outside playing fetch with me, every now and again he'll stop and howl and he'll look at me as if to say, "Why aren't you howling with me, human?" He'll stare at me until I howl too then he'll run off in a goofy run as if he just pulled the best prank ever. It's hilarious!
When the world and my dog were a lot younger, she and I were out walking one morning, after rain. It was a woodland area and when I reached a slippery patch my feet shot out in front of me and I landed on my head, knocking myself out. I couldn't have been in la-la land for long but when I opened my eyes she was standing there, a resigned look on her face, wondering why the hell I was sleeping when she wanted to walk. At least, she didn't run off and go exploring on her own.
Better than the kids. I was painting the house while they were young and they were inside watching TV. When the TV lost its picture Mrs D said, "Your father's painting near the antenna. See if he bumped it." So my 14 year went out for a look and came back. "Is that what happened," she asked. "Yeah, hefell off the ladder." "Is he all right?" "I don't know. He was lying on the ground."
And as unlikely as that sounds, it's a true story.
