I've been lucky enough to visit the Western wall with Israeli friends.
I crossed (where the) Berlin Wall (had been) a couple of weeks after it was torn down - there was almost nothing left. On that trip, I drove the road from Berlin to Rostock. There were still watchtowers at every junction. Russian Armoured cars were still everywhere. One day I shall go back to see if there is anything of that history left.
