From the Ayatollah's point of view, racist, parochial and religiously bigoted - a classic case of pot calling kettle black! The Iranian government, and more especially the clerics backing it, have little or no respect for the USA so if the American President lets the world think he hates Islam, then he falls straight into the Arabic propaganda trap. He's effectively supporting the accusations, however untrue, against him and his country by Iran and other Middle-Eastern countries.
Iranians generally don't really hate the West per se. They are a very proud and patriotic people who want simply to be left in peace although they can be very sectarian due to the Islamic schism originating in little more than an argument among the Prophet Mohammed's own relatives and descendants. What they really hate is other countries trying to tell them how to run their own lives - but don't we all?
