My sister in FL uses well water. Her husband used to work at our water plant here and was quite aware of the standards. He had his well water tested and found it is quite safe.
Our tap water used to be in the top five in the country every year. Toledo. Since the algae problem they hyper-chlorinated it so much it stings my eyes when i shower. I can actuall smell it. I now have a faucet filter.
People mistakenly buy bottled water because it's "pure". Bad move - and not only because those plastic bottles are an environmental disaster.
More importantly - human beings evolved drinking water that picked up minerals as it ran to the sea. These minerals are essential for life and when people drink the filtered "pure" bottled water, they are removing these essential nutrients from their diet. Not entirely, but enough to avoid bottled water as the primary source of water.
I don't drink bottled water in those plastic containers Have a filter on the faucet so me and my cat drink good water.

Filtered tap water. The water here is crappy; it's notoriously hard and if you put it in a clear glass it always has an off-color tint. Filtering it seems to solve the problems.
