You have just bought a Persian carpet for your home and discover that it's a flying carpet.

How would you use it? Would carpet flight be regulated by your country's aviation authority? Would you carry passengers? What else might you do with it?

  • Sounds like a plan. :D

Hah! Appropriate error, I suppose, but that came out as "sounds like a plane",

  • I hoped somebody would mention the obvious. Do try to keep away from the edges. It's a long way to the ground.

Now if I can get some seatbelts for that bad boy, I'm set. Although getting insurance for it may be a problem.

  • Just stay away from the edges of the air, Zack.
And if you don't know what they are I described them in a blog post.
    HERE.

  • Dear Zack,
See how educational it is to come onto aMug.com?
I just went to Dozy's blog...and sure enough, all this valuable information about how to find the edges of the air, and (even more importantly) how to keep away from these treacherous edges when you are hang-gliding...

  • Dozy, that is a very easy question...

I would go to Monterey Bay to gyre and gimble in the wabe with the slithy toves, the borogoves, and the mome raths there.

"'Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe.
    All mimsy were the borogoves,
    And the mome raths outgrabe."

  • Beware the jabberwock, Virginia,
    The jaws that bite, the claws that snatch;
Beware the jub-jub bird and shuin
    The frumious bandersnatch.

    And watch out for snarks...

I'd buy a large piece of land and have a Bollywood magic carpet show.  The night time finale would include showman divers diving off the carpet into a large pool beneath, intertwined with a light show.  Additionally fireworks and lots of Indian food for the audience.  This post was edited by Sunshine at February 24, 2017 2:08 PM MST

  • Assuming the carpet can carry a ton besides my own weight, I would take with me a ton of good sense and pour it over all the disturbed areas of the world.
