HUAC. House Unamerican Activities Committee. It was a committee of the House of Representatives as the name indicates. In 1969 the name was changed to House Committee on Internal Security. Of course there was the infamous blacklisting of those with supposed Communist ties in the 50's. Russia was the big bad in those days.
