Discussion»Questions»Food and Drink» As we age things change including tastebuds. What food(s) did you dislike that you really like now. For me it was mangos. For you?
its been reverse for me, i hate things that i use to like. such as chicken nuggets. hot dogs, chicken burgers, chicken strips, roast beef, deli meats- just to name some. i've hated salad "type" dressings since i was a kid and that hasn't changed (anything that resembles salad dressing, tastes like salad dressing- makes me cringe).. im not a vegetarian- i just don't like certain meat products- anymore.

When I was a kid I LOVED candy. I couldn't wait till I was a grownup so I could have all I want. Now? I'm content with one piece now and then. I really prefer salty crunchy things to sweet. But other than that I can't think of a food I loved as kid that I don't like now. Well..actually I think I wouldn't have a problem being a vegetarian. We eat meat but both Jim and I often have all-veggie/whole grains/fruits meals and might not eat meat for days. Thank you for your helpful answer by providing details of exactly what your taste buds reject. That's quite a lot. It sounds as if you prefer more nutritious/healthy foods which is a very good thing. Nitrites and nitrates used to be in everything. Now you can buy uncured meats... bacon, sausages, lunchmeats..that are natural. Even salami. While that doesn't make them nutritious at least it gets rid of those preservatives. Happy Saturday to you SS! :)
