I'll say up front that while I'm no bully, I won't back down when challenged. I've gotten into a couple of scrapes in an effort to defend or protect a woman in my company. I'll do that without any hesitation. I wouldn't want any woman in my company to feel unsafe or insecure. If the lady is uncomfortable with unwelcome advances, it should be handled using an appropriate level of response. If push comes to shove, then give it some room cause somebody's taking home an ass whipping.
