Back in the day, not long after Australia had converted to the metric system, the breakfast announcer on a pop radio station said that in keeping with the new system his station would in future be using decimal time. "It is now 7 point 2 2."
The switchboard heated up for a while before people began to realise it was April 1.

There as quite a good one on the radio this morning. A rogue nucler reactor is orbiting in space and will be illuminating the night sky any time soon. They keep repeating one from the late 1950s when you went to the cinema to get your news before someone danced with someone else in a movie and everyone felt better. 8 million people watched a newsreel of the failing spaghetti harvest in Switzerland. A tough winter meant the spaghetti trees were barren. People believed it.
