Why does the media keep calling an arcraft carrier group and "armada"?

An armada is a large fleet consisting of many ships; whereas a carrier group is a carrier with a have dozen destroyers and frigates and maybe a cruiser.

    It's the word that Trump used.  He was the one who called it an armada.  Everything in his mind is bigger than in real life.
